Obituary for John Yaniero

John Yaniero
John R. Yaniero, 97, passed away on Wednesday, December 6, 2017 at his residence surrounded by his family. Born in Torella Del Sannio, Province of Campobasso, Italy to the late Clemente and Mary Yaniero, he immigrated to America at the age of ten and became a citizen of the United States of America.

John lived in Middlesex most of his life. He attended Middlesex Borough School District and furthered his education at the county vocational school. He attained special training in the field of Optical Electrical and Mechanical Instruments at City College of New York, Stevens Institute and finally Rutgers University.

John retired at 90 years of age after 50 years of dedicated employment with Rutgers University School of Engineering, as Laboratory Manager in the field of Electron-microscopy and x-ray diffraction in the Institute of Engineering Materials at the ceramic center. Upon John's retirement, his service and commitment to excellence at Rutgers University were recognized by the institution of the John Yaniero Award of Excellence, given each year to a graduate student demonstrating similar commitment, in order to fund their further education. During his lifetime, John also worked with Central New Jersey firms Phillips Lens, Mogey’s Optical, Co. Haydu Brothers, Borroughs Corporation and Breeze Corporation.

John was very proud of his time spent on the Middlesex Borough Beautification Committee, thanks to his lifelong passion for gardening. His beautiful garden will be well remembered by Middlesex residents. He also served on the Rental Control Board and Election Board. John was a faithful communicant of Our Lady of Mount Virgin Church in Middlesex and was a member of the Middlesex Elks #1488.

John leaves behind his loving and devoted family; wife Antoinette (Deluccia) Yaniero, daughter Mary Lynn Palmer and her husband Peter of Middlesex, son Ron Yaniero and his wife Diane Berry of Califon, grandsons Robert and Daniel Palmer and his brother Al Yaniero and his wife Lois of North Carolina.

Visitation will take place in Middlesex Funeral Home, 528 Bound Brook Road, Middlesex, NJ 08846 on Sunday, December 10, 2017 from 2-4 and 7-9pm and on Monday, December 11, 2017 beginning at 8:15 am.

Funeral services will begin in the funeral home at 8:45 am on Monday, December 11, 2017 followed by a 9:30 am Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of Mount Virgin Church in Middlesex. John will be laid to rest at Resurrection Burial Park in Piscataway.
