Obituary for Stephen Beckner
Stephen Beckner, 72, died on Sunday, July 1, 2018.
Born and raised in New York City, Mr. Beckner was a former resident of the Journal Square section of Jersey City for before settling to Middlesex in 1974.
Mr. Beckner proudly served his country in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War before he was honorably discharged.
Stephen went on to start his career as an electrician. He worked for various companies throughout New Jersey, including Maxwell House, and most notably Schering Plough(now Merck), retiring six years ago.
Stephen was an avid NY Mets, Jets, Rangers, and Knicks fan. He enjoyed bowling, playing hand ball, and was an excellent baseball player. In addition to his sporting activities Stephen collected stamps and enjoyed trips to Atlantic City where he played Black Jack.
He was preceded in death by his son, Scott, in 2016.
Surviving are his wife Catherine Beckner of Middlesex, his children; Stephen Beckner and his wife Traci of West Virginia, Catherine (Tina) Trujillo and her husband Amilcar (Tony) of Tennessee, Christopher Beckner and his wife Lorenza (Lori) of Tennessee respectively, sisters; Lucille Cozzone of Bayonne, Joanne Beckner also of Bayonne and Janet Beckner of Jersey City, brothers; Daniel and his wife Annette of Toms River, James and his wife Jeanne of Jersey City and Timothy of Anchorage, Alaska and nine grandchildren; Alex, Annaliese, Anthony, Austin, Destinee, Rayanna, Rosalea, Stephen III, and Taylene, as well as his extended family and friends.
Family and friends are welcome to gather for visitation on Friday, July 6, 2018 from 4:00-8:00PM at the Middlesex Funeral Home, 528 Bound Brook Road, Middlesex, NJ 08846.
Funeral services will begin on Saturday, July 7, 2018 at 9:00AM at the funeral home followed by a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 9:30AM at Our Lady of Mount Virgin Roman Catholic Church, Middlesex, NJ
Cremation services will take place privately.
