Stephen J. Balzer, Sr., 61, passed away suddenly on Thursday, February 16, 2023.

Born and raised in Queens, NY, Stephen moved to Plainfield, NJ in 1976. He then moved to South Plainfield in 1990, where he met his wife Rosanne and raised their family. In 2019, the two settled in Nazareth, PA.

Stephen recently worked at Unicom Global in Whitehouse Station as an HVAC technician for the past 15 years. He previously worked at Hall’s Warehouse, Staats Auto Body, and Courys Auto body.

Stephen enjoyed his time in his garage, working on his corvette or motorcycle. He was also a member of the Old Timers Motorcycle Club, and the South Plainfield Italian American Club. However, his true passion was his children and grandchildren. Stephen will also be remembered as someone who was always willing to drop what he was doing to help someone in need.

Stephen is preceded in death by his father Jack, his mother Caroline, and his niece Joanna (Balzer) Voguit.

Survived by his loving wife, Rosanne (Tomei) Balzer, he leaves behind his children, Danielle her husband Eric Banta, Jessica and her husband Chad Schaffer and Stephen Jr. and his wife Rachel; brother John and his wife Marilyn Balzer; grandchildren Brooke, Alexa, Madison, Aubrey, Taylor, and Emma. Stephen will also be missed by his many nieces and nephews, extended relatives, and friends.

A visitation will be held at the McCriskin – Gustafson Home for Funerals, 2425 Plainfield Avenue, South Plainfield, NJ, on Tuesday, February 21, 2023, from 3 PM to 7 PM.

Cremation services will be held privately.
