Obituary of Thomas Edward McCoy
Piscataway – Thomas Edward McCoy 60, passed away on Thursday May 25, 2023 at home.
Born in Somerville to the late Arline (Hagerty) and Charles McCoy, Thomas is a lifelong resident of Piscataway. Former owner and operator of TEAM McCoy Excavating, Thomas was currently working for Edgewood Properties as a dump truck operator.
Thomas will be remembered for his love of dirt track stock car racing, racing his own stock cars in his younger years. Tom’s love for the sport would find him and his crew, The Hannigan family at every Saturday night competing at Flemington Speedway in his #14 race car.
Once the speedway closed, Thomas would be found racing at New Egypt Speedway with his TEAM McCoy Racing Crew Chief brother-in-law David, sister Cheryl and nephew Nugget always cheering him on! His brand-new ride, the #25 black Bicknell race car he built from scratch was his pride and joy that he loved the most.
Toms' admiration for Elvis Presley would find him in his spare time singing Elvis Presley tunes at Karaoke night while cruising his blue Harley Davidson motorcycle around with his family and friends.
Thomas was a regular blood donor for the American Red Cross and he will be sorely missed by his sister and the many friends he made in his lifetime.
Predeceased by his parents; surviving is his sister, Cheryl Thalhammer and her husband David; brother, Kevin McCoy Sr. and his nephew, Kevin McCoy Jr.
A funeral mass will be celebrated on Saturday June 3, 2023 in Our Lady of Mount Virgin RC Church 600 Harris Avenue Middlesex, NJ 08846 at 10:00AM. Family and friends may gather in the Middlesex Funeral Home 528 Bound Brook Road Middlesex, NJ 08846 beginning at 8:30AM on Saturday morning.
