Obituary of Robert W. Rowlands

South Plainfield, NJ – Robert W. Rowlands, 84, passed away on Tuesday, March 4, 2025 at JFK Medical Center in Edison.  Born in Jersey City to the late Alexander and Ella (Corby) Rowlands, Bob moved to South Plainfield in 1989.

Bob worked as a Machinist and retired from Alpha Metals located in Jersey City.  He was a member of Royal Arcanum, a non-profit fraternal life insurance company.  Bob was an avid sports fan and loved the NY Giants and the NY Mets.  He also was fond of John Wayne and was a “Trekki,” who collected Star Trek memorabilia. 

Predeceased by his daughter Erin Elizabeth, who died at three years old, Bob leaves behind his wife of almost fifty years, Judith and their two sons, Matthew of South Plainfield and Anthony of Phillipsburg.  He will be missed by his grandchildren; Megan Elizabeth, Zachary Ryan, Nikolas James, Joseph Gaetano, Jaxson and Kaylee as well as his brother Leonard Rowlands and his wife Donna of South Plainfield.

Visitation will be held at McCriskin-Gustafson Home for Funerals, 2425 Plainfield Avenue, South Plainfield, NJ 07080 on Tuesday, March 11, 2025 beginning at 4pm.  Concluding prayer services will be held at 6:30pm.
