Obituary of Hoan Thi Pham

Hoan Thi Pham, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, passed away peacefully at home on Monday April 7, 2025 at the age of 93 surrounded by loved ones. 

Born on March 12, 1932 in Hai Phong, Vietnam, Hoan had met and overcame many obstacles. In 1954, when the country was divided into North and South Vietnam, Hoan and her parents gave up everything and migrated to South Vietnam. Through hard work and dedication, she became a surgical nurse for many years.  At the end of the Vietnam War in 1975, Hoan and her family once again gave up everything to immigrate to the United States. initially settling in Jersey City.  Determined to provide for her family, she learned English and how to drive so she could find work.  Hoan was a long-term exemplary employee at Emerson Electronics in Secaucus.  After 20 years living in Jersey City, she and her late husband relocated to Howell Township before moving to Ocean Township. 

Hoan enjoyed cooking traditional Vietnamese Cuisine and sharing her recipes and the traditions of Vietnam with her children and grandchildren.  As a devout Catholic, Hoan was an active member of the Vietnamese Catholic community in Jersey City.  She also enjoyed spending time playing cards with her very close friends.

Predeceased by her husband who passed away in June of 2021, Qui Nguyen; surviving are her three children and their spouses, Trinh Nguyen, Duong Nguyen and Huyenchau Villas; ten grandchildren and a great granddaughter. 

Viewing hours will be held on Friday April 11, 2025 (6pm – 9 pm) at the McCriskin – Gustafson Home for Funerals, 2425 Plainfield Avenue South Plainfield NJ 07080.  A funeral mass will be held on Saturday, April 12, 2025 at 10AM at Our Lady of Czestochowa RC Church in South Plainfield.

Cremation will follow in Holy Cross Crematory, Jamesburg.

In lieu of flowers and gifts,  donations may be made in Hoan’s memory to either The American Heart Association or to  The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson Research.
