Obituary of Lori Cummings

South Plainfield – Lori Cummings, 64, passed away Monday, June 23, 2025 in Upstate New York.

Born and raised in South Plainfield, Lori, graduated from South Plainfield High School in 1978. She spent her early years in South Plainfield before moving to Florida’s Space Coast, where she lovingly raised her children and embraced the warmth of coastal living. Eventually, Lori returned to her hometown to be closer to her parents, cherishing the time spent with family.

Lori was a devoted mother and grandmother, dedicating much of her life to her family’s happiness. She enjoyed being a stay-at-home mom when her children were young, later working as a convenience store manager and most recently as a Diagnostic Technician with Roche Molecular Systems.

A joyful and caring person, Lori loved collecting shells on the beach, antiquing, and exploring garage sales. She treasured her time with her grandchildren and children, creating memories filled with laughter and love. An avid music lover, she attended concerts and found joy in sharing her favorite tunes and had an adoration for dolphins. Lori was also known for her culinary talents, especially her baked ziti, ham dinners, and her famous macaroni and cheese, which brought joy to family and friends alike.

Predeceased by her parents, Donna and Tony Prekel; surviving are her two children, Jennifer Lord and husband Adam and Danny Cummings; and two granddaughters, Madison and Teagan.

She will also be missed by her sisters, Tammy Lynch (Jim), Kim Moore (Dave), Sandy Strausser (Rob); many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.

A memorial gathering will be held on Saturday, July 26, 2025 in the McCriskin – Gustafson Home For Funerals, 2425 Plainfield Avenue South Plainfield NJ 07080 from 11AM – 1PM.
