Michael Kusalba Michael Kusalba of South Plainfield, age 85, entered into eternal rest on December 18th at the Barbara E. Cheung Memorial Hospice in Edison, peacefully in the loving arms of his wife. Born in Elizabeth, New Jersey on January 1, 1922, he resided in Union, Newark, Roselle, Clark, and South Plainfield. Michael was a graduate of Union High School, Thomas Edison Technical School, Penn Institute and Rutgers University. Prior to World War II, he worked at Breeze Corp. as a radar inspector in the defense plant. As a World War II veteran of the U.S. Army, he served as a Military Police Prisoner Escort Guard and later at Headquarters Company as a drone pilot. He had worked as the Clerk of the Works at the construction of Essex County College in Newark. Before his retirement, he was a self-employed building contractor. Communicant and Trustee Emeritus of Our Lady of Czestochowa RC Church, South Plainfield, he was the past secretary and treasurer for 17 years of the Holy Name Society. He also was the co-chairperson of the Feast of St. Anthony Parish raffle and faithful member of the Nocturnal Adoration Society. In addition, he was a member of the Middlesex County Federation Holy Name Society and the Diocesan Union of Holy Name Societies. He was an honorary alumni of the Orchard Lake Schools in Michigan, St. Marys Preparatory School, St. Marys College and S.S. Cyril and Methodius Seminary. A member of the U.S. Power Squadron, Watchung Sail and Power Chapter. A Past Chaplain and Blood Bank Chairman. Pre-deceased by his parents, Andrew and Katherine (Kowalczuk) Kusalba and brothers Joseph and Edward Kusalba. He is survived by his beloved wife of 62 years, Florence (Kucharski) Kusalba. His sister Helen Klecan, sister-in-law Helen Voss, nieces Janet Voss and Robin and her husband Joseph Pugliese, nephew Robert Klecan and great nieces, Michelle, Aubrey and Elyse Klecan. There will be a Funeral Mass on Saturday, December 22, 2007 at 9:30 AM at Our Lady of Czestochowa RC Church, South Plainfield. Interment will follow in St. Gertrudes Cemetery, Colonia. Visitation will be held on Friday, December 21, 2007 from 2-4 and 7-9 PM in the McCriskin-Gustafson Home For Funerals, 2425 Plainfield Avenue, South Plainfield. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Our Lady of Czestochowa RC Church, 120 Kosciusko Avenue, South Plainfield, NJ 07080.
