Doris M. Gundersen
South Plainfield - Doris M. Gundersen, 85, passed away on Sunday, April 26, 2009 at home with her loving family by her side.
Born in Plainfield, she was the daughter of James. H. and Elizabeth (Van Fleet) Hardgrove.
Doris is survived by her beloved husband of 65 years Arnold "Bill" Gundersen, her five children; Barbara Rennie (Alan) of Califon, Beverly Walton (Thomas) of Easton, PA., Bill Gundersen of Groveland, FL., Bonnie Risoli (Anthony) of Forked River and Betty Lou Ramsey (Allen) of Ephrata, PA., her 10 grandchildren; Todd Walton (Cynthia), Cheryl Vurckio (John), Diana Walton, Krista Gundersen, Scott Gundersen, Jason Risoli, Craig Risoli, Danae Risoli, Stephanie Barrett and Michele Barrett. Also surviving are her 4 great grandchildren; Travis, Natalie, Shane Walton and Anthony Risoli as well as many loving nieces and nephews.
She was pre-deceased by her parents, 10 brothers and sisters and by her daughter -inlaw Patricia Gundersen who recently died on March 23, 2009
Raised in Plainfield, Doris graduated from Plainfield High School in 1943. She was an Acrobatic Roller Skater in her teens and performed at the 1939 World's Fair held in New York.
In 1944 Doris married Bill Gundersen and raised their family in South Plainfield. She was active with the South Plainfield Girl Scouts, the Cherry Dell Garden Club and a Canasta Card Game club.
After raising her children, Mrs. Gundersen worked as an electronics tester for the Burroughs Corp., in Warren and later Piscataway for 20 years.
Funeral Services were held privately under the direction of the McCriskin - Gustafson Home For Funerals, 2425 Plainfield Ave., South Plainfield.
Interment was held in Hillside Cemetery, Scotch Plains.
