Alan B. Sefton South Plainfield - Alan B. Sefton, " The Governor" 83, died on Tuesday, October 20, 2009 at home. Born and raised in Hull England, Alan came to the United States in 1948 residing in New Brunswick. He lived in South Plainfield and Plainfield before finally settling back in South Plainfield in 1971. While growing up in England, Mr. Sefton was a cabinet maker and wood carver by trade before he enlisted in the British Army during WWII. He served as a Master Drill Sergeant and was stationed in Europe and North Africa during the war throughout his enlistment. He was employed by Do-All Inc. in Union for nearly 20 years before retiring as an Assistant Manager. In addition, Alan was also active with the South Plainfield Senior Citizens. He is pre deceased by his wife Marie who died in 1985 and by a brother Norman who died during WWII. Surviving are his 2 daughters; Jane Boxwell and her husband Jay Sr. of South Plainfield and Kathleen LaPiere and her husband Reginald Sr. of Surfside, S.C., his son Norman B. of South Plainfield, his sister Audrey Judson and her husband Ray of England and his 4 grandchildren; Jay Jr., James, Reginald Jr. and Michelle Wilson. Also surviving are his 10 great grandchildren. Funeral Services will be held on Friday, October 23, 2009 at 10:30 AM in the McCriskin - Gustafson Home For Funerals 2425 Plainfield Ave., South Plainfield, NJ 07080. Interment will follow in Hillside Cemetery, Scotch Plains, NJ Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 22, 2009 from 2-4 & 7-9pm in the funeral home In Lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research, www.michaelj.fox.org
