Obituary of Thomas W. Sofield

South Plainfield - Thomas W. Sofield, 81, died Wednesday, April 12, 2017 at JFK Medical Center in Edison. Born in Bound Brook, Tom was born to the late Clifford and Evelyn (Wells) Sofield. He grew up in Middlesex and settled to South Plainfield in 1975 where he long time member of the Cedar Croft Bible Chapel. Employed as a press operator, Tom worked for the former Kentile Floors in South Plainfield for over 30 years. He enjoyed playing roulette in Atlantic City and proudly served in the National Guard for six years during the 1960's. He is predeceased by his wife who died in November of 2016, Mildred (Munch) Sofield and son, Douglas Sofield; surviving are his two children, Bill Sofield and his wife Traci of South Plainfield and Tracey Sofield of Langorne, PA and granddaughter, Katie Sofield of South Plainfield. Visitation will take place in the McCriskin - Gustafson Home For Funerals, 2425 Plainfield Avenue South Plainfield NJ 07080 on Friday, April 14, 2017 from 5-8PM. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, April 15, 2017 at 10AM in the funeral home. Burial will follow in Hillside Cemetery in Metuchen.
