Obituary of Jeanne Smith

South Plainfield - Jeanne Stirling Smith, 81, died Monday, November 28, 2016 at Merwick Care and Rehab Center in Plainsboro. Born in Scotland, Jeanne was raised in England and immigrated to the United States in 1957. She lived in Montclair until moving to South Plainfield in 1963. Jeanne worked in the Transportation Department for the South Plainfield Board of Education. Jeanne was a member of Willow Grove Presbyterian Church and the Red Hat Society. She enjoyed time spent with friends and family. She was a wonderful wife to her husband, Tom, of fifty years, who died in September of 2009; a loving and caring mother to her two children Christine Darge and husband Ken, Drew Smith and wife Lisa; a devoted Meema to Jeffrey Darge and Chloe and Jesse Smith. She leaves behind her sister, Christine Gibbs, and a host of extended relatives. Cremation services were held privately. A memorial gathering will be held on Wednesday, December 7, 2016 beginning at 12:00 PM in the McCriskin - Gustafson Home For Funerals, 2425 Plainfield Avenue South Plainfield, NJ 07080. Memorial Services will begin at 1:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
