Frances B. Stankus, 96, passed away August 27, 2014 at the St. Francis Medical Center in Trenton, NJ. Born in Jersey City, she resided in Elizabeth for 36 years prior to settling in Piscataway in 1957.Frances was employed with Singer Manufacturing Co. for 17 years before retiring in 1954. She was a communicant of Our Lady of Fatima and a member of their Rosary Altar Society. Mrs. Stankus was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother and great grandmother. She was predeceased by her husband Mr. Peter Stankus who passed away in 1999 and by her brother Joseph Butkus and her sister-in-law Claire Butkus. Surviving are her sons, Richard Stankus and his wife Marlene of Mercerville and David Stankus of Piscataway; her daughter Marie DiCataldo and her husband James of Florida; her sister, Sister Mary Dolorita Butkus of the Sisters of St. Francis in Pittsburgh; her grandchildren Geoffrey Stankus, Kathryn Stankus, Kevin Stankus and Phillip Stankus; her great grandchild Carter DiCataldo; her nephew Joseph Butkus, his wife Judy Listfield and their family; and her niece Carol Bauder, her husband Stephen and their family.Funeral services will begin Tuesday 9:00 am from the Piscataway Funeral Home, 18 Stelton Rd., Piscataway, NJ 08854 followed by a 10:00 am funeral liturgy at Our Lady of Fatima Church in Piscataway. Interment will be in the St. Gertrude Cemetery in Colonia. Visitation hours are Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm at the funeral home.In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Frances' name to the Sisters of St. Francis of the Providence of God, 3603 McRoberts Rd., Pittsburgh, PA 15234.
