Middlesex, NJ - Nicholas Vincent Alimecco, 96, of Middlesex, New Jersey, passed away peacefully in his home on Tuesday, February 10, 2015 surrounded by his family. Born in Freeland, Pennsylvania, he spent most of his adult life in Middlesex. Nicholas was an employee of American Cyanamid in Bound Brook for over forty years. Nicholas was devoted to his late wife, Carmela, of sixty-four years. He is survived by his loving children, Rosary Fedak and Dolores Triebel and her husband, Brian. "Poppy", as he was affectionately known, was cherished by his five grandchildren; Tara Lyn DeShields, Tiphanie Marie Tindle, Jessica Holmes, Jaime Joy Triebel, and Nicolette Spencer and their respective spouses. Nick loved spending time with his great grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother Anthony Alimecco, many nieces and nephews, and countless dear friends. Nicholas served in the United States Army during World War II and was a Pearl Harbor survivor. He was a member of the American Legion Post 306 of Middlesex, the VFW in Manville, and the Pearl Harbor Survivors Club. He served two terms as Commander of the American Legion and was honored several times as the Grand Marshall of the Middlesex and Manville Memorial Day Parades. December 7th, the anniversary of the attack on Pearl Harbor, was always a special day for Nick. On this day, family and friends would join him at the Manville VFW for a day of remembrance.Nicholas enjoyed bowling, golfing, and dancing at family functions. He looked forward to his monthly poker games with his grandson and buddies. Most of all, Nicholas cherished spending quality time with his family.He was a communicant of Our Lady of Mt. Virgin Church in Middlesex where he attended Mass every Sunday until he became ill. He was also a member of the Our Lady of Mt. Virgin Holy Name Society.Visitation will be held in Middlesex Funeral Home, 528 Bound Brook Road, Middlesex, NJ 08846 on Friday, February 13, 2015 from 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm and on Saturday, February 14, 2015 from 8:15 am until 8:45 am.Funeral services will begin on Saturday, February 14, 2015 at 8:45 am followed by a 9:30 am Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of Mount Virgin Parish in Middlesex. Mausoleum entombment will follow at Resurrection Burial Park located in Piscataway.In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Community Care Hospice, 110 West End Avenue, Somerville, New Jersey, 08876.
