Obituary of Gertrude M. Hurley

Middlesex, NJ - Gertrude M. (Bremer) Hurley, 94, died on Sunday, April 19, 2015 at the Morris View Facility in Morris Township. Born in Scotch Plains to her late parents Edward and Gertrude (Nelson) Bremer, Gertrude lived in Plainfield, moved to Middlesex in 1946 and in 2011 settled in Chatham.
Gertrude retired from Revlon in Edison where she worked in the lipstick department. She enjoyed gardening and was a former member of Our Lady of Mount Virgin Parish in Middlesex. The matriarch of the family, she took great pride in her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a kind, gentle soul who lived a life of quiet dignity and who gave more to others than she ever received.
In addition to her parents, she is predeceased by her husband Luke M. Hurley who died in 1979 and her siblings; John, Ed, Claire and Elmer Bremer and Jean Dame.
Gertrude leaves behind her loving family: sons Lawrence Hurley (Allyson) of Chatham, Robert Hurley of Youngsville, NC and daughter, Patricia Pirro (Guy) of Neshanic Station. She will be missed by her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and her three siblings; Percy Bremer of Monmouth Junction, Donnie Bremer of Scotch Plains and Mildred Jamison of Suffern, NY.
Visitation will take place at the Middlesex Funeral Home, 528 Bound Brook Road, Middlesex, NJ 08846 on Thursday, April 23, 2015 from 4- 8pm and on Friday, April 24, 2015 from 8:15 am until 8:45 am.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, April 24, 2015 beginning 9:30 am at Our Lady of Mount Virgin Parish in Middlesex with burial to follow beside her husband at Holy Redeemer Cemetery in South Plainfield.
