Bound Brook, NJ Bernard "Benny" Cossi, 100, a lifelong resident of Middlesex, passed away on February 15, 2015 at Brandywine at Middlebrook Crossing in Bound Brook. Benny worked for over fifty years at Phillips Lens Company in Middlesex. An avid race car fan, he attended over fifty-five Indianapolis Memorial Day Races. Benny spent a lot of his time with his extended family, the DeFino's, who he enjoyed working with together in their green house and on old cars. He was a long time Yankee fan; he enjoyed his trips to Atlantic City and was a former member of the Plainfield Seniors Club, often assisting with their monthly bulletins. Benny celebrated his 100th birthday with his family at Brandywine at Middlebrook Crossing last June. He is predeceased by his parents Joseph and Angelina (Manfredi) Cossi, brothers Christopher and John and by his brother-in-law Joseph P. Zuccarelli. Benny leaves behind his loving sister Amelia Zuccarelli and niece Emily DeScenza and her husband Joe all of Middlesex.A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, February 19, 2015 beginning 11:00 am at Our Lady of Mount Virgin Parish in Middlesex. Visitation will take place prior to the mass from 9:15 am until 10:15 am in Middlesex Funeral Home, 528 Bound Brook Road, Middlesex, NJ 08846.On behalf of Benny's entire family, deep appreciation is given to Brandywine at Middlebrook Crossing and Homeside Hospice of Clark for their compassion and care during the length of Benny's illness.
