Obituary of Joseph J. Archutowski

South Plainfield - Joseph J. Archutowski, 91, died Thursday, August 30, 2018 at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick. Born and raised in the Bronx, NY, Joseph was a resident of South Plainfield since 1961. Until his retirement, Joseph worked as Chief Appraiser for the US Department of Housing and Urban Development. He proudly served with the United States Army during WWII and the Korean War. A charter member of the South Plainfield Knights of Columbus, Joseph was also active with Our Lady of Czestochowa. He enjoyed reading and will be remembered as a family man and for his witty one liners. Surviving are his wife of 61 years, Margaret (Kane) Archutowski; six children, Joseph and wife Cynthia, Stefanie Stewart and husband Donald, Andrew Archutowski, Jean Johnson and husband Carl, Paul Archutowski and wife Joy and Patricia Archutowski and husband John Lee. He will also be missed by his ten grandchildren, Meredith, Daniel, Alison, Joseph, Michael, Olivia, Gabriella, Peyton, Leon and Giselle and two great grandchildren, Hazel and Lincoln. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday September 4, 2018 at 10AM in the McCriskin - Gustafson Home For Funerals, 2425 Plainfield Avenue South Plainfield NJ 07080 followed by a funeral mass in Our Lady of Czestochowa RC Church at 11AM. Burial will follow in Hillside Cemetery, Scotch Plains. Family and friends may gather in the funeral home from 3-7 on Sunday September 2, 2018.
