Obituary of Craig Stevens

Craig Stevens, 49, of Piscataway, died at home on Friday, September 14, 2018. Born and raised in Piscataway to William and Ruth Stevens, Craig was a lifelong Piscataway resident. After graduating from Piscataway High School, Craig joined the United States National Guard. He went on to proudly serve his country in the United States Marine Corps. After his honorable discharge in 1993, he worked as a mechanic before starting his career with the Piscataway Township Department of Public Works retiring as equipment operator. Mr. Stevens is the current commander of the Piscataway American Legion Post 261 where he dedicated many years to the legion. Craig was also the Grand Marshall of the Piscataway 2015 Memorial Day parade. He was an avid NASCAR, New York Yankees and New York Giants fan who was known for his eccentric personality and multicolored Mohawk hair. Craig enjoyed traveling with his beloved wife and spending quality time with his family and friends. Surviving are his beloved wife and best friend, Pauline Bowbliss Stevens, his loving parents William and Ruth Stevens (nee Hoxie), his dear brother Brian Stevens and wife Melanie, his dear sister Cara L. Twombly, his six nieces and four nephews, his brothers in-law John Bowbliss and wife Elaine and Joe Bowbliss and wife Erin, his American Legion Post mates, extended family and many dear friends. Family and friends are welcome to gather in honor of Craig in their Hawaiian shirts on Thursday, September 20, 2018 from 4:00 to 8:00pm at the Piscataway Funeral Home, 18 Stelton Road, Piscataway. Funeral services will begin at the funeral home on Friday, September 21, 2018 at 10:00am. Family and friends are welcome to gather beginning at 9:00AM. Interment with military honors will follow at Resurrection Burial Park, Piscataway. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Craig's memory to the Carol G. Simon Cancer Center at Overlook Medical Center, 99 Beauvoir Avenue, Summit, NJ 07901.
