Obituary of Jessie Bell Ayers

Jessie Bell Ayers, 76, entered into eternal life on September 22, 2018 at JFK Medical Center in Edison. Born in Ehrhardt, South Carolina to the late Bennie and Everlyner Ayers (nee Carter), she was raised in Orangeburg, South Carolina before moving to Brooklyn in 1967. Jessie settled to Piscataway in 1978 where she resided for forty years before retiring to Plainfield in 2005. She started working for Johnson & Johnson in 1978 before transferring to Ethicon in 1980 and eventually retiring in 1996. She began to work as a custodian at Grandview Elementary School in 1998 until she chose to retire in 2010. During her time in Plainfield, she was very active with the seniors in her community. Jessie enjoyed playing cards with friends, was a devoted fan of the Yankees, and religiously played the NJ Lotto. She took cruises with her friends and trips to Atlantic City, most of all, Jessie enjoyed cooking a good meal and the quality time spent with her family. She was preceded in death by her older sister Clary Mae Williams (nee Ayers). Surviving are her loving sons Keith Ayers and Michael Ayers and wife Egly, her adored grandchildren Kia Ayers, Kalyn Howard, and Devan Ayers, her great grandson Ahmir Mouzone, her niece and nephew, Cynthia and Anthony Williams, and her maternal Aunt Mileston Cooper, as well as many extended family and dear friends. Family and friends are welcome to gather on Friday, September 28, 2018 from 10:00AM to 12:00PM at the Piscataway Funeral Home, 18 Stelton Road, Piscataway. Funeral services will begin with a prayer at 12:00PM at the funeral home.
