Obituary of Craig L. Primus

Please share a memory of Craig to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Piscataway, NJ - Craig Louis Primus, Sr, was born October 6, 1963 to the late Charles H. Primus, Sr. and Mary L. Primus in Paterson, NJ. He was the youngest of four. Craig was baptized at the age of seven in Solid Rock Baptist Church. He loved to sing songs that he remembered while sitting next to his sisters and brother. Craig was a curious child and was not afraid to take risks. He often talked about getting in trouble for always getting dirty and taking things apart. After graduating from Eastside High School in Paterson, Craig entered into the optical field. He truly loved the work he did and the people he worked with. Newark Vision and Meltzer Eye Care were not just a place of employment but became his extended family. It warmed his heart that Mia and Craig Jr. followed him down this career path. In April 1988, Craig met the love of his life, Tanguala Downing, and on January 3, 1992 Craig and Tammy were married. To this union, Mia Demaire and Craig Louis, Jr. were born. Craig was a people person and loved to talk to anyone about anything and had a strong opinion on how he felt things should be. Especially if he was talking about something he loved. He felt like he was everybody's daddy! Craig was an avid bowler and joined several leagues. He was skilled and privileged enough to have several perfect games under his belt. He loved traveling to tournaments and still wanted to go and support even when he could no longer participate. Along with bowling he had his favorite sports teams, Washington Redskins, New York Yankees and the New York Knicks. Craig had his own sense of fashion. Sunglasses, hats and his shell toed ADIDAS! Craig had a sneaker to match every outfit he wore. Most importantly, Craig was a family man. He would call just to see how you were doing, what you were doing and what you were eating. Craig was called home to rest on Monday, November 5, 2018. Predeceased by his father Charles H. Primus, Sr., sister Victoria L. Primus and brother-in-law Kenneth Wardrick, Jr., Craig leaves behind his loving and devoted family; wife of twenty-six years Tanguala (Tammy) Primus, daughter Mia D. Primus (LaVon Billingslea) of Piscataway and son Craig L. Primus, Jr. (Shante Duffy) of Budd Lake. He leaves to cherish his memory his mother Mary L. (Lee) Primus, brother Charles H. Primus, Jr., and sister Judith Primus-Garris all of Paterson. Nieces and nephews; Summerlyn Garris-Gayle & Kerry Gayle, Brandon Isom, Devon L. Spellman and Charlea Primus (Troy Browning). His mother and father in law: Leamond and Venora Denise Downing of Clark, sister-in-law Soraya Spellman, brother-in-law Keith Spellman, Godchildren; Symone, Aaliyah, Amari, Makayla, Amil'ya and baby Craig. His new found four-legged best friend Sheba, uncles, aunts, cousins and friends. Visitation will take place at Piscataway Funeral Home, 18 Stelton Road, Piscataway, NJ 08854 on Sunday, November 11, 2018 from 5-8 pm.
