Ethel Melin Carchia left this life on Monday, November 19, 2018.
Born in Sundsvall, Sweden on April 3, 1932, to Fritz and Inga Melin, Ethel had 4 sisters, Kerstin Soikkanen, Solveig Melin, Siv Djurberg and Lillemor Edling and one brother, Josef Melin.
While studying in Paris, France, Ethel met her late husband Edward Carchia. Shortly after their marriage in Spain, they returned to the United States settling to Edison and began their family.
Ethel enjoyed traveling with her husband and took particular enjoyment in experiencing other cultures and traditions. A talented and noted fashion designer, Mrs. Carchia was also a student of the arts and literature.
In 2016, after 66 years of marriage Ethel lost her beloved husband Edward.
She is survived by her daughters, Anita Diegnan, Annette Dailey and Clea Carchia; son in law, Senator Patrick Diegnan; loving grandchildren, Heather Utt, Sherri Zwerko and Tara Webster and great grandchildren, Vanessa Paragano, Alexa Paragano, Brooke Webster and Andrew Webster.
The Memorial Gathering of relatives and friends will be held on Friday, November 23, 2018 from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm in the funeral home.
Cremation services were held privately and the burial of her cremated remains will be private.
