Obituary of Franz H. Plate

New Brunswick – Franz H. Plate, 97, passed away Friday, April 5, 2019 at the Rose Mountain Care Center in New Brunswick. 

Born in Bremervorde, Germany, Franz immigrated to the United States in the 1950s to Garwood before settling to Piscataway in 1953. A career baker, Franz worked in Gaston Avenue Bakery in Somerville.

An avid bowler and ping pong player, Franz enjoyed eel fishing in Lake Louise of Point Pleasant Beach.

Surviving are his two children, Karen Hartz and fiancé Jim Strumbers of Rahway  and Karl Heinz Plate of South Plainfield; grandson, Erik Hartz and wife Melissa and two great granddaughters.

A memorial gathering will be held on Monday, April 15, 2019 from 5-7PM in Piscataway Funeral Home, 18 Stelton Road, Piscataway, NJ 08854.
