Obituary of Lorraine D. Coppola
Edison, NJ – Lorraine D. Coppola, 76, passed away suddenly on July 21, 2019 at JFK Medical Center in Edison. Born and raised in Newark, Lorraine lived in Piscataway for fifty years before moving to Edison to be with her daughter’s family.
From her earliest days, Lorraine’s kind and generous spirit guided her to care for those most important to her. At any given moment, when Lorraine was needed, she selflessly rose to the occasion and gave her family everything she could give. She truly cherished the fun, laughter and silly moments spent with her grandchildren and dogs. Lorraine enjoyed drives and quiet moments with her children and her best friend, sister Dorothy Latham. Her passion for Elvis and country music was known by all. To her family, Lorraine played many roles, but in reality, her warmth and generosity had an important impact on the lives of many.
She is predeceased by her mother Dorothy Wharton, husband Anthony Coppola, and by her niece Kimberly LaSalle, with whom she shared a special bond. Lorraine leaves behind her loving children; son Robert of South Plainfield, daughter JoAnn Alexander and her husband John of South Plainfield, and daughter Marie Gonzalez and her husband Marco of Edison. She also leaves behind her four grandchildren; Anthony and Dominick Alexander, Sophia and Carina Gonzalez, her sister Dorothy, her brother Roger Wharton and his wife Maureen, along with her beloved nieces.
Visitation will be held in McCriskin-Gustafson Home for Funerals, 2425 Plainfield Avenue, South Plainfield, NJ 07080 on Friday, July 26, 2019 from 4-8pm and on Saturday, July 27, 2019 beginning 10:30 am.
Funeral services will be held in the funeral home on Saturday, July 27, 2019 at 11:00 am. In honor of Lorraine’s wishes, cremation will be held privately. In lieu of flowers, donations sent to St. Hubert’s Animal Shelter in NJ (www.sthuberts.org) would be greatly appreciated.
