Obituary of Tracey Beth Cadigan
South Plainfield, NJ- Tracey Beth Cadigan, 48, passed suddenly at home in Florham Park, NJ on Monday, August 19, 2019.
Born in Brooklyn, NY, Tracey resided in South Plainfield before relocating to Bridgewater, at the age of fifteen. As a youngster, “fozzy bear” loved to tag along with her siblings and their friends wherever they went and whatever they did. She graduated from Bridgewater-Raritan West High School in 1989 and continued her education at Kean University where she received her Bachelor’s Degree in Education, specializing in Special Education.
When Tracey was a young child, she was diagnosed with leukemia. She survived after 5 years of experimental chemotherapy and several rounds of radiation. This led to her “15 minutes of fame” when she was featured with her doctor and her parents on Good Morning America as an early leukemia survivor. Perhaps this experience is what prompted her to specialize in education for children with special needs. She loved those kids and reveled in educating and helping them.
Tracey loved family get togethers and parties in general. The bigger the better. She was drawn to anyone with a good sense of humor and she absolutely loved to laugh.
Surviving are her mother, Carole Almeida and boyfriend, Frank Peluso; father, Tom Cadigan and wife, Marian Wexler; two sisters, Jill Thomas and husband Mike and Jodie Howell and husband Scott; brother, Michael Cadigan and step-brother Matthew Almeida and wife Jen.
She was a favorite aunt and will be missed by her eight nieces and nephews as well as her large extended family and many friends.
Tracey is now with her beloved nana Margaret Cadigan, her beloved aunt Carolyn Cadigan, her beloved step-father John Almeida and many more family members that have welcomed her with open arms.
A Memorial Gathering will be held on Sunday, August 25, 2019 in the McCriskin- Gustafson Home For Funeral located at 2425 Plainfield Avenue, South Plainfield, NJ from 3pm to 5pm with a memorial service beginning at 4:45pm.
