Florida White

Obituary of Florida White

Please share a memory of Florida to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Florida Barnett White was born July 30, 1932 in Edwards, North Carolina, to the late Richard and Ellen Barnett.  One of eight children, she is the last surviving child.   Florida married her loving husband, William Eugene White in 1957 and moved to Newark, New Jersey, where they began their family.  They settled to Piscataway in the early 1970’s to raise three children, make roots in the community and served the Lord and their Faith together with numerous years of dedication.  Employed years ago, performing electrical assembly on conveyors, her true happiness comes from within as a mother and her devotion to the Lord.   She loved to volunteer at several churches locally where she assisted with Bible School, in the Nursery and helped to plan many of the church’s social functions.

She was an amazing woman of tremendous wisdom, character, strength and kindness.   For 87 years she stood tall and proud as the matriarch of our family.  She shared many momisms. One of my favorites, that she modeled it so well is, “People don’t care how much you know until they know how much you care.”  Loving was always her top priority.   We will miss her, but we are so thankful for the 87 years God lent you to us.  Now He has welcomed you back home.

Known to all as Florida, she had joined her husband, William Eugene, and grandson, Terrance Judge in Heaven with the Lord.

Florida’s special personality with that vibrant appearance will be cherished by those who will forever cherish her memories are; three children, Glenn and his wife Wanda, Hollie and her husband, Neal and South Plainfield Councilman Derryck.   There are six grandchildren; Jessica Dresser, Alexx White, Noah White, Michael Austin, Victoria Carmona and Rickie Gangadeen, twelve great-grandchildren and five great -great-grandchildren.   Also leaving to cherish her memory are many nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws and dear friends and caretakers.  The sibling who have gone before are; Letha, James, Mary Bell, Marie, Peter, Mary Jane and Grace.

In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the Parkinson Alliance, P.O. Box 308, Kingston, NJ 08528 or donations can be made on their website: https://www.parkinsonalliance.org/donatenow/general-donation/
