Obituary of Charles Greenstein
Charles Samuel Greenstein Jr, 68, of South Plainfield died peacefully on December 2, 2019 after a long illness.
Born in Irvington N.J., Charlie grew up in South Plainfield (Class of 1970) and served in the Vietnam War before being honorably discharged in 1972.
He married his high school sweetheart Debra DeCarlo. Together, they had three children and had resided in Metuchen, N.J. for 40 years. Charlie worked in the family business of Green Farms in Iselin, N.J. and various locations before owning and operating Green Farms Nursery and Greenhouses in Washington, NJ.
Charlie enjoyed working with his hands, from making Christmas wreathes to growing flowers and vegetables. He loved to feed a crowd and had a warm heart for animals and horses.
In addition, Charlie was a member of the South Plainfield American Legion Chaumont Post 243.
Predeceased by his father, Charles “Sonny” Greenstein surviving is his wife Debra; daughters, Dana Campbell and her husband, Brian of Berkeley Heights and Ashley Hernandez and her husband Frank of South Plainfield: son Charles Greenstein III of Washington, N.J.; mother Lillian Greenstein of Edison; sister Janie Rosa and her husband Allen of Edison; brother, David Greenstein of Edison and five grandchildren, James, Nole, Mary, Julian and Jackson.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, December 5th, 2019 from 4-8pm in the South Plainfield James w. Conroy Funeral Home 2426 Plainfield Avenue, South Plainfield, N.J. 07080.
Funeral Services will be held on Friday, December 6th, 2019 beginning at 10:30am in the funeral home.
Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Woodbridge, N.J.
