Obituary of Michael J DeGrazia

Edison – Michael J. DeGrazia, 94, passed away Sunday December 29, 2019 in VA Lyons Assisted Living. Born in New York to the late Donato “Tom” and Bessie (Epstein) DeGrazia, Michael resided in Newark before settling to Edison over 50 years ago. An honorably discharged veteran of the United States Army, Michael courageously served our country during WWII before being discharged in 1952 with the rank of Sergeant. Michael worked with the New Jersey Turnpike Authority in their maintenance department until his retirement in 1987. He enjoyed spending his retirement years with his family especially the grandchildren and great grandchildren. Predeceased by his wife of 58 years who died in 2009, Irma (Till) DeGrazia and daughter who died in 1992 Louise Messer; surviving are his two children, Toni Moretti and her husband Guy of South Plainfield and John DeGrazia and wife Irene of Monmouth Junction; six grandchildren, Eugene Moretti and wife Teresa, Nicole Moretti, Anthony Moretti, Michael DeGrazia and wife Rebecca, Amy Livingstone and her husband Asante and Tanya Boles. Also surviving are thirteen great grandchildren; Blake, Chase, Victoria, Morgan, Jack, James, Aidan, Malikai, Ardreas, Isaiah, Isabella, Joseph and Christian. Funeral services will begin on Wednesday, January 8, 2020 at 10AM in the McCriskin – Gustafson Home For Funerals, 2425 Plainfield Avenue, South Plainfield NJ., 07080 followed by a burial in Hillside Cemetery, Scotch Plains. Family and friends may gather on Tuesday from 4-8 pm in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the Lyons, VA.
