Lawrence Goetz, Jr, 71, passed away peacefully Monday, January 13, 2020 at JFK Medical Center in Edison surrounded by his family. Born and raised in Staten Island, NY, Larry has resided in South Plainfield for over 40 years. He was employed by the Exxon Research Center in Linden for the majority of his career as a materials coordinator before retiring from Graybar Electric in 2005. A veteran of the United States naval reserve serving active duty in the Mediterranean aboard the aircraft carrier USS Saratoga. Larry enjoyed playing volleyball and bowling in his younger years. Larry looked forward to spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren in Ocean City, MD and watching the New York Yankees baseball and New York Giants football. Predeceased by his son, Steven Goetz, who died in 2019; surviving are his loving wife, Linda (Osborn) Goetz; three children, Lori DeVito of South Plainfield, Tammy Di Loreto and husband Glenn of Hackettstown and Timothy Goetz and wife Emily of Washingtonville, NY; daughter in law, Amy Goetz; sister, Marie DePuma and husband Charles of Staten Island, NY; three nephews, Gregg DePuma (Sarah), Thomas DePuma (Erica), Christopher DePuma and two great nephews, a great neice and closest cousins, Linda & Joan Costa. He will be missed by his seven grandchildren, Jake, Frankie & Brooke Di Loreto; Thomas & Tyler DeVito; Natalie & Bodhi Goetz. He will also be missed by his dearly loved dog, Rockie. Funeral services will be held on Friday, January 17, 2020 in the McCriskin – Gustafson Home For Funerals, 2425 Plainfield Avenue South Plainfield, NJ 07090 at 11AM followed by burial in Hillside Cemetery, Scotch Plains. Family and friends may gather on Thursday from 2-4PM & 7-9PM.
