Obituary of Dominick E. Apice
South Plainfield – Dominick E. Apice, 89, passed away early Thursday morning, December 3, 2020 at JFK Medical Center in Edison.
Born in Newark to the late, Richard and Isabella (Procia) Apice, Dominick is the last surviving of twelve siblings. Dominick proudly served with the United States Airforce until his honorable discharged. He went to live in Pennsylvania with his late wife, Dororthy for a short time before relocating to New Jersey and settling to South Plainfield in 1973.
A parishioner of Sacred Heart RC Church in South Plainfield, Dominick had a passion for cars. He worked for Sansone Lincoln and Mercury in Parlin for many years and after retirement, Dominick worked with his son, Rich, at DnR Auto Center in South Plainfield. He also enjoyed building and flying model airplanes and woodworking.
Predeceased by his wife of 65 years, Dorothy Apice; surviving are his three children, Francine Swensen and husband Gregg of Pittsboro, NC, Richard Apice, Sr. and wife Judy of Somerset, Marcy Nardo and husband Dave McKiernan of Lebanon, NJ.
He will also be missed by his grandchildren, Nicole Riley and husband Mike, Richard D. Apice, Jr. and partner Michelle, John Nardo, Jr. and partner Alina Chris Nardo and fiancé Jamie and two great grandchildren, Michael and Leah.
Funeral services are private and under the direction of the McCriskin – Gustafson Family Home for Funerals. Dominick will be laid to rest next to his wife in Glendale Cemetery, Bloomfield.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Dominick’s memory to the Wounded Warriors or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
