Obituary of Myra Stillman
February 19, 1948‒December 9, 2020
Myra May Stillman (nee Larson) of South Plainfield, 72, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, December 9, 2020.
Myra was born in the small village of Colby Siding, in Aroostook County, Maine.
After an idyllic childhood spent reading Nancy Drew, climbing trees, and picking potatoes, she attended college at Ricker College and Husson College, Maine.
Myra moved to New Haven, Connecticut in the early 1970s, where she met the love of her life, Thomas Stillman, and in 1978, they settled in South Plainfield.
Once settled in the Borough, Myra grew to be a dedicated public servant. She was an elected member of the South Plainfield Board of Education in the 1990s and served on numerous boards and volunteer organizations, including the South Plainfield Planning Board, PTO’s of her daughters’ schools, the High School Music Boosters, and more.
Myra was buoyed by her faith as a congregant at Wesley Methodist Church. She was a preschool teacher, a Girl Scouts leader, a clerk, a fitness instructor and a medical receptionist, but her most important job, and the work she was most proud of, was raising her girls.
She is predeceased by her parents, Maria and Leonard Larson, of Maine.
Surviving is her husband of 47 years, Thomas Stillman; her daughters, Alicia Stillman and her partner, Jared Blumberg of Bethlehem, PA and Jessica Stillman Lloyd and her husband Kyle Lloyd of Nether Providence, PA. She was a doting grandmother to her three grandchildren, Molly, Martin, and Mitchell Lloyd who will miss her dearly. She is also survived by her brother, Leonard Larson of Connecticut and her sisters, Marlene Hurd and Sylvia Howe of Maine.
A celebration of life will be planned for Summer 2021.
