Obituary of Denise Dawn Hoppe
With profound sadness we announce the passing of Denise Dawn Hoppe, our mini “Buddy” passed away peacefully on January 16, 2021 at the age of 59. She was born on September 17, 1962; however, she may have changed this date several times. She eloped and married her childhood sweetheart, Luke Tigue, on September 16, 1978 who preceded her in death in 1986.
Denise was briefly married to Robert Raposo in the early 90’s. They enjoyed to travel together, and were known to frequently escape reality in the Florida Keys.
Denise went on to marry her knight in shining armor, Charlie Hoppe on September 27, 2006. Denise and Charlie were the party, and together they became foodies, beach bums, and crab catching partners in crime. This duo was dynamic and they never missed an opportunity to chase the sun together.
Denise was usually found in the kitchen cooking up a storm, if Denise was involved you knew there would be good food, lots of good food. Denise knew that food was the ingredient that bound everyone together, and she was a firm believer that good food created the foundation of genuine happiness.
If there was a home project that needed to be done Denise was eager to tackle it, she could transform a shack into a mansion with her own two hands. She had the ability to make her visions become a reality, and she inspired everyone around her with her masterpieces.
Denise loved to be busy, and when there was a job to be done she was the person you wanted on your side. She knew that there was no such thing as a small detail; in fact she lived to highlight the small details. One of her signature touches was to use overpriced plastic silver utensils at a BBQ, simply because they looked classy and they shined like a diamond.
Denise and Charlie lived for an early bird dinner and they knew all the right spots, whether they were on the water listening to live music or at a local pub. No matter where they went everyone was happy to see them, and they would often be joined by Denise’s daughter Jennifer; this trio is known as the “Three Musketeers”.
Denise is survived by her beloved husband, Charlie Hoppe; children, Luke Tigue, Erin Tigue, Jennifer Tigue, Greg Bruzik, and Bobbie Jo; four grand-children, Kyleigh Tigue, Luke Tigue (LJ), Keira Tigue, Jax Raposo; her mother, Maureen; brothers James, Christopher; and sisters, Debra and her husband Charles Wojcik, Maureen and her husband Stuart Lavender and nieces and nephews. She will be missed by all.
Like everyone, Denise struggled with her own demons; nonetheless, we are convinced she planned this to escape the insanity of COVID-19. Life is short, so we encourage you to hold the ones you love extra tight
At her request, funeral and cremation services at this time will take place privately under the direction of the McCriskin-Gustafson Home for Funerals, South Plainfield. Those wishing to leave a message of condolence may do so on her web at www.mccriskinfuneralhome.com
