Obituary of Stanley Farhy

Stanley Farhy, 82, known to his family and friends as “Mickey,” passed away surrounded by his daughters at CareOne at Somerset Valley in Bound Brook on Thursday, April 15, 2021.  Born in Somerset on the family farm to the late Leon and Rose (Shapiro) Farhy, he graduated New Brunswick High School and became a Middlesex resident in 1963.

In 1962, Mickey married the love of his life, the late Patricia A. Farhy, who passed away February 22, 2016.  He worked his entire life in the trucking business – being employed as a Transportation and Safety Supervisor with Airco, Great Bear and retiring from MXI in Piscataway.

Mickey proudly served his country in the United States Army National Guard and retired in 1979 as a SFC.  He enjoyed spending time with his family, travelling with his wife Patricia and liked to follow sports, especially the NY Jets and auto racing.  During his children’s youth, he was a bingo caller for Our Lady of Mount Virgin Bingo and even after his daughters finished school, he continued to assist for years.

Predeceased by his loving wife Patricia, brothers George, Sam and Gerald and sister-in-law Shirley Maken, Mickey leaves behind his daughters; Dorothy Farhy of Middlesex and Deborah Farhy and Kathleen McKevitt both of East Brunswick, sister-in-law Terrie Collins and her husband Bill of North Carolina, cousins and close friends Gail and Ed Bogan of Long Valley, his cousins whom he grew up with, John Farhy of Pennsylvania and Melanie Ellison of Massachusetts as well as several nieces, nephews and extended family and friends all of whom he loved deeply.

Visitation will take place in Middlesex Funeral Home, 528 Bound Brook Road, Middlesex, NJ 08846 on Monday, April 19, 2021 from 4-8pm with an evening eulogy and prayer beginning 7:30pm.  On Tuesday, April 20, 2021, family and friends are invited to join together at the funeral home at 10:30 am with a prayer service beginning 11:00 am.  Burial will follow alongside his wife at the family plot of Franklin Memorial Park in North Brunswick.
