Bayonne, NJ – Ellen Niemczyk Dowal, 80, passed away peacefully by loved ones on July 11, 2021.  Born and raised in Sheepshead Bay, Brooklyn, NY to the late Phillip and Mae (Carroll) Binckes, Ellen lived most of her life in Bayonne, settling to Edison just a year ago.

Ellen worked as a waitress but enjoyed her time as a nurses-aide at Bayonne Hospital.  A true selfless woman, Ellen could always be found helping those in need.  She cared for everyone she came across and her great sense of humor will never be forgotten.  No matter what situation crossed her path, Ellen always had a smile on her face and put her troubles aside to help others.

She loved to sing and write and will be forever known as the “Rapping Nanny.”

Predeceased by her husband Joseph, seven siblings and her daughter Jean Dowal, Ellen will be missed by her loving and devoted family; daughters; Lenora Romano of Piscataway, Jamie Staton and her husband Joseph of Bayonne, Kim Connolly of Bayonne and Al Ripp, a dear family friend whom she considered to be a son. Nanny will also be missed by her nine grandchildren; Cheryl, Mandee, Danielle, Michael, Christopher, Megan, Christine, Caitlyn and Alexis, four great-grandchildren; Jayden, Tyler, Brielle and Daniel and her close family friend; Anthony Zieinski.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 14, 2021 from 4:00 pm until 6:00 pm at Piscataway Funeral Home, 18 Stelton Road, Piscataway, NJ 08854.  A concluding prayer service will be held at 5:45pm with cremation following privately.
