Michael Jakubowsky, Army Veteran
Michael Jakubowsky, 74, of Middlesex, NJ, passed away peacefully on February 8, 2022. Michael was the son of Helen(Goglas) Jakubowsky and John Jakubowsky, who predeceased him. He was also predeceased by brothers John Jakubowsky and Robert Jakubowsky and nephew John Andrew Jakubowsky. He is survived by his sisters, Nancy Yuzuik and husband, Joseph, of Bridgewater, NJ, Kathryn O’Connor and husband, Dennis, of Lopatcong, NJ and nephew, Michael Jakubowsky, nieces Kristin Vargas and Kelly Jakubowsky, and great nieces Lucille, Scarlette, and Penelope.
Mike was a proud Army veteran, serving from 1966-1970. He was a 53-year member of American Legion Post #306 in Middlesex, and a lifetime member of the Disabled American Veterans. He enjoyed selling poppies each Memorial Day and was the Legion’s top-seller. He was the Grand Marshall of the 2019 Memorial Day parade in Middlesex.
Mike was an avid fisherman and hunter. He especially enjoyed trips to Lake Ontario with his brother, John. Mike was a member of the Raritan Canal Fisherman’s Association and helped with the South Bound Brook Fishing Derby for many years. He also volunteered at the Somerset County Food Bank for many years.
Of course, Mike enjoyed spending time with his family.
Visitation will be at the Middlesex Funeral Home, 525 Bound Brook Road, Middlesex, NJ from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 15th, with rendering of military honors at 6:30 p.m.
