Obituary of Dalia Josephine James
Piscataway – Dalia Josefina James, 70, died Saturday, May 7, 2022 at JFK Medical Center in Edison.
Born in Tela, Honduras, Dalia grew up in Belize where she worked for the Government. She immigrated to the United States in 1977 initially living in Bronx, New York before settling to Piscataway in 1990 with her husband and four children. A hardworking professional woman with a long career in the investment banking industry, Dalia worked for Swiss Bank Corporation (now UBS) in 1978 in New York City until her retirement. She then worked in financial services at Fiserv in South Plainfield, NJ. At the end of her career, she worked with Keystone Community Living of South Plainfield assisting with housing for disabled persons.
Dalia loved to dance, travel and had a talent for sewing. She loved spending time with family, friends, and the Garifuna community. She will be remembered as a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and sister.
Surviving is her husband of 40 years, Thadlia James; four children, Melissa Trotter (Kelvin), Marlon Mendez (LeKisha), Thaddeus James (Stephanie) and Michael James. She is also survived by her siblings: Olivia, Martha, Erica, Joseph II, George, Yolanda, Leroy, Paula and Anna Jean, and a host of nieces, nephews, and many other family members and friends.
She will also be missed by her four grandchildren: Mackenzie, Mason, Dominic, and Alia.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, May 20, 2022 beginning at 9:15AM in the South Plainfield Funeral Home, 2456 Plainfield Avenue, South Plainfield NJ 07080 followed by a funeral mass in Sacred Heart RC Church, South Plainfield at 10:30AM.
Entombment will follow in Woodbridge Memorial Gardens, Woodbridge.
