Obituary of Beatrice D. Meeker
Beatrice D. “Betty “ Meeker, 100, passed away peacefully on July 22, 2022 in the Eastern Star Home in Bridgewater.
Born and raised in North Plainfield, Betty settled into South Plainfield after the loss of her beloved husband, Milton in 1986. Betty graduated from North Plainfield High School in 1939 then went onto Drake’s Business School. She worked for Cornell – Dubilier in South Plainfield for 10 years.
A lifelong parishioner of St. Luke’s RC Church, Betty taught second grade CCD as the church was being built in North Plainfield High School and her home. At the conclusion of class, Betty enjoyed treating her students to candy bars. Betty was also active with St. Luke’s Rosary Society until 2022, at the age of 98 and the ladies club, where she enjoyed planning fashion shows and card parties. Betty also helped count the collections and volunteered with church Bingo and the American Red Cross.
In her younger years, she enjoyed traveling with Milton internationally and as time went on, Betty enjoyed bus trips with St. Luke’s as well as Our Lady of Fatima RC Church.
Predeceased by her husband, Milton; parents, Ira and Mae DeCamp and sister and brother in law, Iris and Al Fasano; surviving are her devoted friends, Natalie Farry, Joanne Wylykanowitz, Diane Doward, Lenoard Simone, Renee Foster, Michelle Apsley, Janet Farry and their families; nephew, Garrett Fasano as well as many friends who became her family.
The devoted friends of Betty would also like to thank the Filipino Home Health Aids Annie, Mae and Lollie as well as the staff at the Eastern Star Home.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, July 28, 2022 at 10AM in St. Luke’s RC Church, 300 Clinton Avenue, North Plainfield NJ followed by burial in Holy Redeemer Cemetery, South Plainfield.
