In loving memory of Helen Marie Publik
June 7, 1934 - September 9, 2022
Helen Publik passed away peacefully on September 9, 2022, at the age of 88 at the NJ Veterans Home in Menlo Park, NJ. Visitation will be at the McCriskin-Gustafson Home for Funerals in South Plainfield on Thursday, September 15th from 4-7 p.m. Private burial will be at Resurrection Burial Park in Piscataway on September 16th.
Born in Scranton, PA, one of four siblings, Helen was the daughter of Helen and Patrick Franklin, a self-employed rug maker. Helen moved to Newark, NJ with her beloved husband, Frank to be at his side as he started his career as a Newark firefighter at Engine 10. She then moved to South Plainfield to raise her children, Joseph, Robert and Judy. There in addition to being a wonderful mother, she enjoyed being an active member of the American Legion with Frank at her side. Her favorite activities were being with her grandchildren, and traveling with Frank, as the children grew. She loved cruises, the Poconos, Florida and going to Wildwood American Legion Conventions. Helen was married to the love of her life, Frank for 65 years. Sadly, Frank passed away 4 years ago.
Helen leaves behind her 3 children: Joseph (Maria) of Arizona, Robert (Patricia) of South Plainfield, and Judy Adams (Michael Deceased) Englishtown; nine grandchildren Brian, Gregory, Jessica, Amberlee, Jeffrey, Ryan, Tyler, Nicole, Shana and 4 great grandchildren: Riley, Aiden, Avery, Ryan and Victoria.
The family would like to thank the NJ Veterans Home Menlo Park for her loving care for several years, especially Gloria, who worked at the home and took special loving care of her. Helen was a beautiful soul who warmed the hearts of the many people around her. She will be sadly missed by family and friends.
