Obituary of Anna K. Stachowicz

Please share a memory of Anna to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Anna K. Stachowicz passed away on November 16, 2022 at the age of 94.

Born on November 8, 1928 in Newark, NJ, Anna spent most of her life in neighboring Irvington. After graduating from Irvington High School, she embarked on a long and fulfilling career at Prudential Insurance Company where she moved through the ranks to become Claims Supervisor. Anna participated in countless trips and activities at Prudential (including the Tennis Club) and loved to reminisce about her 35+ years with the company. She convinced many coworkers to plan for the future by buying savings bonds and contributing to the company’s investment plan.

Upon retirement, Anna joined the Sacred Heart Senior Society and later moved to Kenilworth. She was an avid reader, a loyal Devils and Mets fan, and devoted follower of St. Padre Pio. She loved vacationing with her nieces and nephews and spending holidays with the whole family.

Although she accomplished so much in her long life, she will be remembered most for how she made people feel. She was a remarkable caregiver to her parents and loved ones. She always made herself available to family and friends and never hesitated to offer assistance. She was generous with her time and resources and supported countless charities including Doctors Without Borders. Anna was very thoughtful, independent, and outspoken and encouraged others to be the same.

She is predeceased by her parents Helen and Martin, sisters Stephanie Margulski and Genevieve Karwowski, her brother Edward Stachowicz, her nephew Walter Stayvas, and her precious poodle, Coco.

She is survived by her brother Stanley Stachowicz, nieces and nephews Patricia and Richard Ossowski, Dee Stayvas, MaryAnne and Stephen Karwowski, Helen Margulski, and John and Martin Stachowicz. She is forever loved by grandnephews and grandnieces David, Jennifer, Michael, and Tracy Ossowski, Scott and Robin Stayvas, and great-grand niece and nephew Ava and Andrew Ossowski.
