Obituary of Richard J. Timinski

Please share a memory of Richard to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

South Plainfield, NJ – Richard J. Timinski, 77, passed away peacefully at Brighton Gardens Senior Living surrounded by his loving family on October 21, 2023.  Born and raised in Perth Amboy to the late John and Catherine (Smolen) Timinski, Rich has lived in South Plainfield since 1981.

Rich enlisted in the United States Army where he was an x-ray technician in Okinawa during the Vietnam War.  After his honorable discharge in 1971, Rich continued his studies and started his career teaching science for Sayreville Junior High School.  He then switched career paths and ultimately, after working for over forty years, he retired as a computer programmer with the former Phillips Company located in South Plainfield.

A quiet, kind and gentle soul, Rich also loved to spend time enjoying History and everything it had to offer.  He had an extensive antique firearms collection and would always be willing to educate the youth on the black gun powder and story with his firearms.  He could often be found at Fort Dix enjoying his time on the range doing target practice.  He belonged to the NRA and was a member of the Church of the Sacred Heart in South Plainfield.   Rich loved cross-country skiing, spending Christmas at the Trapp Family Lodge in Stowe, VT with the family, and he loved to watch Penn State Football.

Predeceased by his parents, Rich leaves behind his loving wife of fifty-two years; Denise (Schintzel) Timinski and their two daughters; Allyson DeVito of South Plainfield and Carolyn Guida and her husband Anthony of Raritan.  He will be missed by his two adored grandchildren; Anthony Jr. and Theresa.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 26, 2023 from 10:00am until 12:00pm at McCriskin-Gustafson Home for Funerals, 2425 Plainfield Avenue, South Plainfield, NJ 07080.  A concluding prayer service will be held at 12:00pm with committal prayers to follow in the chapel of Holy Redeemer Cemetery, also in South Plainfield.
