Obituary of Gerard Thomas Ferrara

Please share a memory of Gerard to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Gerard ‘Jerry’ Thomas Ferrara, our beloved father,  cherished best friend, ardent music lover, avid bird enthusiast, garage sale aficionado, and master of the art of napping. He departed this world on November 27th, 2023, just a few days before his 75th birthday, leaving behind a legacy of love and joy.

Born on December 1, 1948,  Jerry lived a life full of passion and warmth that touched the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know him. He was not only a father, but a true confidant and the best friend anyone could ask for.

Music was a constant thread throughout Jerry's life, weaving its way into his heart and soul. His love for melodies and rhythms was infectious, and he shared this passion with everyone around him. Whether he was singing for a crowd, strumming a guitar, playing songs with his family & friends on the patio, or simply humming a tune, his appreciation for music created a soundtrack to the lives of those he loved. His sweet strains and comforting notes of “Rocky Raccoon” became a cherished lullaby, and a timeless reminder of the love and warmth he brought into our lives.

In addition to his love for music, Jerry had a deep connection with nature, especially birds. His eyes would light up at the sight of a feathered friend, and he found solace in observing their graceful flights and melodious songs. His birdwatching adventures were a source of tranquility and joy, reflecting his appreciation for the beauty of the world around him.

Jerry was the life of the party; ready to acapella, make you laugh, play cards, and relish the moment. Jerry also had a keen eye for treasure hunting and there wasn’t a garage sale he drove past without stopping for.

A great napper by nature, Jerry had the remarkable ability to find comfort and peace in moments of rest, anywhere and at any time. His napping prowess was legendary, and he taught those around him the importance of taking a pause to recharge and savor the simple joys of life.

Gerard ‘Jerry’ Thomas Ferrara is survived by Lisa (daughter), Jerry (son), Jerry (grandson), Grant (grandson), Benjamin (grandson), Joan (sister), Loretta (sister), Doreen (sister),  Paul (brother), Donald (brother-in-law), Erin (sister-in-law), Joe (brother-in-law), several nieces, nephews, and friends who will forever hold dear the memories of his laughter, wisdom, and unconditional love.   He is preceded in death by Janice, his sister.

A celebration of Jerry’s life will be held, time and location to be announced shortly.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations in his grandsons name, Jerry Ferrera, C/O Middlesex Funeral Home, 528 Bound Brook Road, Middlesex, NJ 08846.  This trust find will be able to continue his legacy of spreading love and joy and help foster the growth of his grandson.  Once the trust has been opened, we will update with that information.

May Jerry’s soul find eternal peace, and may his memory continue to resonate in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to share in his remarkable journey.

If you know my father, then you already know how lucky you are. He is, without a doubt, the worlds dopest dad and will be incredibly missed.
