Obituary of Katherine L. Lopes
North Plainfield – Katherine L. “Kathy” Lopes, 67, died Sunday, December 3, 2023 at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital Somerset in Somerville.
Born in Summit, Kathy grew up in Long Hill, graduating from Watchung High School in 1974. Kathy and her late husband Dennis resided in South Plainfield and Budd Lake before settling to North Plainfield over thirty years ago.
A true caregiver, Kathy worked countless hours at the Giving Nest Pre School and was always available for her family. She enjoyed baking and watching cooking shows, especially Chopped Kitchen. She also enjoyed watching Discovery TV and Forensic Files.
Predeceased by her husband of 44 years who died in September 2021, Dennis F. Lopes, beloved grandson who died in January 2022, Justin Clark and brother, Stephen Vogel; surviving are her three children, Nicole Lopes, Dennis Lopes and partner Elmer Jocson and A.J. Lopes as well as her cherished grandson, Aiden Clark. She will also be missed by her two sisters, Helen Vogel and Lucia Lucas and longtime family friend Lisa Ferraro.
