Obituary of Barbara J. Tillotson
South Plainfield, NJ – Barbara (nee Taber) Tillotson, 92, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 5, 2023 at home.
Born in Michigan to the late Arthur and Ruth Taber, Barbara spent most of her early life in Fanwood, where she attended Scotch Plains – Fanwood High School. After High School, Barbara continued her studies at La Salle College where she received her Bachelor’s Degree.
Initially, Barbara worked for Bamberger’s in Plainfield as a Merchandising Manager, however, once she started a family with her late husband, Alan, Barbara made the decision to stay home and raise their children.
It was important to Barbara to always be involved in the lives of her children and did so by volunteering for the South Plainfield Little League Women’s Auxiliary and later in life by spending as much time as possible with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. When not with her family, she enjoyed spending time in her garden and planting flowers.
Predeceased by her husband who died in 2012 Alan Tillotson and grandson in law who died in 2022 Christopher Pfeil; Barbara is survived by her three sons, David and his wife Suzanne of Myrtle Beach, SC, John and his wife Joanne of Readington NJ and Rick and his wife Christie of Standish, ME. She will also be missed by her grandchildren, Melissa, Jennifer, Chris, Ricky, Ally, and Cayte and great-grandchildren, Leah, Alexa, and Kaden, along with a host of extended relatives and friends.
Cremation services are private and under the direction of the McCriskin – Gustafson Home For Funerals.
