Obituary of Josephine DiBella
Josephine DiBella, 90, passed away on Wednesday, December 13, 2023, at the Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune.
Born and raised in Newark, Josephine left the city in 1963. She resided in South Plainfield for almost 25 years where she raised her family. She then moved to Edison prior to settling in Manchester in 2002. As a resident of the Renaissance at Manchester, Josephine was an active member of the community, participating in many activities from bowling and bocce to dancing in community performances. She was also a member of the Manchester Red Hat Society.
Josephine was a die-hard New York Yankees fan. She played Wordle daily and enjoyed watching TV, especially westerns, Gun smoke, Bonanza, Little House on the Prairie plus Columbo. She never missed an episode of Jeopardy. She loved to travel and toured many countries throughout her life. She enjoyed vacationing on cruises, playing cards, and taking trips to Las Vegas and Atlantic City. She never met a slot machine she didn't like!
Josephine known as Grandma Jo to her 8 Grandchildren & GiGi to her 8 Great Grand Children loved being with her family and was known for her famous cheese cake on holidays.
Predeceased by her husband Fred J., daughter Lori Ann Mazullo, sister Lillian Cocuzza, and brother George I. Parisi, Josephine leaves behind her loving family; sons, Fred S. and his wife Catherine of Manalapan and Dennis and his wife Mary Alice of Holmdel; sister, Virginia Palmer of South Plainfield; 8 grandchildren, Michael, Melissa, Jessica, Marissa, Dennis, Christopher, Taylor, and Morgan, and 8 great grandchildren Roman, Nico, Gemma, Aria, Joseph, Isabella, Dennis, and Zoey.
Visitation will be held at McCriskin-Gustafson Home for Funerals at 2425 Plainfield Avenue, South Plainfield, NJ 07080, on Monday, December 18, 2023, from 2pm-4pm and 7pm-9pm.
Funeral services will begin at 9 am in the funeral home on Tuesday, December 19, 2023, followed by a 10 am funeral mass at Sacred Heart RC Church in South Plainfield. Josephine will be laid to rest alongside her late husband Fred J. at Holy Redeemer Cemetery in South Plainfield.
