Obituary of Michael Anthony Danzi

Michael Anthony Danzi, 87, passed away peacefully on May 20, 2024 at the Center for Hope Hospice located in Scotch Plains.  Born in Hazleton, PA to the late Anthony and Elizabeth (Yanuzzi) Danzi, Michael grew up in Elizabeth, moved to Rahway in 1962 and most recently, settled in with his daughter in October of 2023.

Michael retired from American Gas Furnace Company in Elizabeth where he worked as a Draftsman/Salesman.  He belonged to the Knight of Columbus Council 1146 in Rahway and was also a member of the Men’s Senior Club.  Michael enjoyed photography and loved taking photos of his trips, especially to Italy.  He never missed an opportunity to be with his grandchildren and you could always find him rooting for them in the stands during any sporting event.

In his earlier years, he was a Scout Master and Baseball Coach.  

Predeceased by his wife Margaret in 2018 and by his sister Elizabeth Iovino, Michael leaves behind his loving children; Beth Sutherland and her husband Mark of South Plainfield and Christopher Danzi and his companion Laura Green of Bradenton, FL.  He will be deeply missed by his grandchildren; Nicole Sutherland and her husband Christopher Egan, Alyssa Sutherland and Jason Sutherland, all of South Plainfield and Rachel Sutherland of Stanhope, NJ as well as two great-grandchildren; Amelia Egan and Austin Horakh.

A gathering celebrating Michael’s life will be held Wednesday, May 22, 2024 from 4pm-7pm at McCriskin-Gustafson Home for Funerals, 2425 Plainfield Avenue, South Plainfield, NJ 07080.
