Obituary of Barbara L Gwiazda
Barbara L. Gwiazda, 83, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 21, 2024, at her home in Barnegat.
Born to the late John and Mary Eodice, in Plainfield, NJ, Barbara attended St. Bernard’s Grammar School, and graduated from Plainfield High School. In 1967, Barbara and her husband, Ron, moved to Piscataway, NJ, where they raised their two children. Following her retirement in 1997, the two settled in Barnegat, NJ.
After graduating from Franklin Beauty School in Elizabeth, Barbara went to work for Esther’s Beauty Salon in Scotch Plains. She began her career here in 1960, and continued until 1997, retiring after 37 years.
Barbara was the matriarch of the family, cherishing any time she could spend with them, especially Sunday Dinners, which were held up until the present. She also enjoyed “Going South” to Atlantic City with her husband Ron. She will be remembered as a loving and supportive mother and Nana to her two children and two grandchildren, alongside Ron.
Predeceased by her parents, brother, Arthur Eodice, and son-in-law, Joseph Panetta, Barbara will be missed by her husband of 62 years, Ronald Gwiazda; and children, Ronald Gwiazda, and daughter Bethann Belardo. She will also be missed by her twin granddaughters, Lily Marie and Olivia Rose Belardo, along with a host of extended relatives and friends.
A funeral mass will be held at St. Bernard of Clairvaux and St. Stanislaus Kostka Church, 368 Sumner Ave, Plainfield, NJ, on Friday, May 24, 2024, at 10 AM.
A private entombment will be held at Holy Redeemer Cemetery and Mausoleum, South Plainfield, NJ.
In lieu of flowers, the Gwiazda family has asked that donations be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, in Barbara’s name.
