Obituary of Jayne Meyers Santoro
Jayne Meyers Santoro, 77, passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 25, 2024 at home in Tinton Falls, NJ.
Born in Pottsville, PA to the late Benjamin and Patricia Meyers, Jayne attended the American University of Washington, DC where she received her teaching degree.
For many years, she made the Borough of South Plainfield, NJ her home, raising her family until 2000. She then settled in thebeautiful small town of Interlaken, NJ, where she and her husband spent 20 years before recently moving to Tinton Falls, NJ.
As an educator, Jayne worked at John F. Kennedy Elementary School of South Plainfield for 30 years as a 1st grade teacher. During her career, Jayne received the 1994-1995 Governor’s Teacher Recognition Program Award and was a member of the NJEA and SPEA. Jayne also served on the Executive Board and Treasurer of Mount St. Mary’s Academy during her daughter’s time there. In addition to being a member of the South Plainfield Public Celebrations Committee, she was a member of the South Plainfield Democratic Municipal Committee where she served as Secretary.
Jayne enjoyed nothing more than spending summers with her children on Hilton Head Island, SC. She loved decorating her home for each holiday and making her famous nut brittle during the Christmas season. She embraced the lost art of calligraphy,as well as gift wrapping. Jayne will always be remembered as a loving and devoted wife, mother and mom mom to her three grandchildren, whom she adored more than anything.
Surviving are her husband of 54 years, Edward J. Santoro, Jr. and two children, Christopher Santoro and wife Meg, and Elizabeth Yezza and husband Thomas, as well as her grandchildren, Thomas Joseph (TJ) & Ruby Jayne Yezza and Rylie Elizabeth Santoro.
Family and friends may gather on Tuesday, July 30, 2024 in the McCriskin – Gustafson Home For Funerals, 2425 Plainfield Avenue, South Plainfield, NJ 07080 from 3PM – 7PM. A prayer service will begin at 6:30PM.
Cremation will be held privately.
