Obituary of Anthony J. Yumet

Anthony J. Yumet, 90, passed away Wednesday, July 31, 2024 at Atrium Health Medical Center in Charlotte, NC.

Born in New York, NY to the late Antonio and Concepcion Yumet, Anthony grew up in Washington Heights and met his wife of 71 years, Hazel Castonguay while attending high school.  After starting their family, they settled to Piscataway, NJ for many years before retiring to the Gulf Side of Florida, ultimately settling to Charlotte twenty years ago.

Anthony, an honorably discharged veteran of the United States Navy, he was stationed upon the USS Leyte during the Korean War. He worked for Merrill Lynch until his retirement of VP of the Data Center. 

In his younger years, Anthony enjoyed bowling and playing baseball.   Throughout his life he never lost the love he had for the sport, watching and collecting baseball cards.  He also collected coins and enjoyed playing poker with family and friends.

Predeceased by his son, Anthony Yumet; surviving are his wife Hazel F. Yumet; three children, Lisa Laskowski and husband Walter, Linda Baran and Peter Yumet.   He will also be missed by his six cherished grandchildren, Dana Lange, Danielle Langley, Michael Laskowski, Nicole Riga, Britney Yumet and Audrey Yumet and five great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, August 7, 2024 at 8:30AM in the Piscataway Funeral Home, 18 Stelton Road Piscataway NJ 0885, following a funeral mass will be celebrated in Our Lady of Fatima RC Church, Piscataway at 10:30AM.

Entombment will be held in Resurrection Burial Park.
