Dear Stacy, Vinnie, Gina, and Family,
I have known your Dad since junior high school days in the 60’s at the CYO dances at St. Andrew’s Church.
Years later after raising our children, we reconnected and became close friends. Perry always went out of his way to visit me and my family in Florida. He quickly became part of our family celebrating special occasions and events.
Every summer he visited us in LBI and brought his famous “Papa Stio” sangria! We talked several times a week and he was so proud of his children and grandchildren.
Perry was compassionate and understanding in many ways. He helped me and gave great advice on a family situation that was very upsetting to me.
My daughter and son in law were so impressed with him that they asked him to officiate at their wedding.
Your Dad was an exceptional, kind, and
generous human being and will be missed very much. My heart is broken over the loss of such a wonderful friend. With sincere sympathy,
Mary Ann and Richard Ernst and Family

Mr. Stio was my 4th grade teacher and to this day I look back on that year with immense fondness. He was a wonderful educator who made a significant impact on my life and I will be forever grateful for that. The world was a better place for having him in it.

I worked in the library at Randolphville Elementary School while Perry was our principal. It was easy to see how much Perry truly loved his students and staff.
I will be forever grateful to him for bringing a wonderful caregiver into our lives. Her name is Vivian, and she cared for and loved my mother like she was her own.
Perry's personality could shine through the darkest days. His participation in all things school-related left us joyful and emboldened! Whether he was dressing up in vibrant costumes, or cheering people on while sitting in a dunk tank, he would always leave us smiling.
Perry's legacy of love and kindness will continue to inspire us all.

I was blessed to have Mr. Stio as my 7th grade English teacher. His class was the highlight of my day. I remember a joke he told the first day of school (and apparently told this joke for a while as my sister had him 7 years prior and remembers him saying this too). He said, "If I die during the school year I want to be buried outside of the classroom window. When the ground settles, build a small house and call it 'Little House on the Perry'."
He has such a fantastic sense of humor. When my niece went to Randolphville and I found out he was her principal I was so happy she'd get to experience his kindness & fun spirit herself.
I am so glad to know that Mr. Stio found his calling of teaching and touched the lives of every student he had. He was the best example of what an educator should be and we were all blessed to have known him.
May he rest in peace. My deepest condolences to his family & friends for their loss.

My favorite principal ever. Throughout all of my years at my elementary school, he was the most positive and outgoing person ever. My favorite memory being his silly costumes for Halloween. After all of those years, he still remembered me as one of his students and sent me a graduation card which I deeply appreciated. Mr. Stio was a great person in and out.

I met Perry many years ago because we had a mutual friend, Mary Ann. I’ve seen him throughout the past few years at certain events held by Mary Ann. We rode together to Maryland to attend her daughter’s wedding. Perry officiated at the wedding. We became better acquainted during that time. It was shortly after that, through a 23 and Me message, I found out Perry and I were fourth cousins!! It was a pleasant surprise and I will cherish his memory. Rest in peace Cuz!!!!

It seem s like you were always right across the street from me - Perry - but that was a long time ago. I'm sure most of the people here remember you as their teacher or principal or colleague or mentor. But, I'll always remember you as my cousin. CYO camp at St. Andrew's Church in the early 1970s - going to see Beatlemania on Broadway together - family picnics in Avenel - helping you move into your first apartment - It feels like you were always there - until you weren't. I'm helping children at St. Jude in your name, so your work will carry on even without you. I'll see you further up the line! Rest in peace & love, jeffrey

My deepest condolences. Your Dad/grandfather was an extraordinary man. I remember as if it were yesterday, Perry helping us learn our “Prayers of the Mass” in Latin, back in the day. He served as our “Grand Knight” for more than a few years. There must have over 50-Altar Boys. It was a big deal & a big program. He helped Fr. Genecki with the whole program. He served St. Andrews in so many roles. That church was a very big part of his life. We could never repay him for his service. Rest in Peace Perry. You will be greatly missed.

I was going through a lot in school. I used to to be bullied. Mr Stio was my 4th grade teacher. I was so quiet. One day I was going through a lot of day because I didn't want to go through bully that day. He knew that I loved to sing. One day he told me to go hide under his desk and sing Madonna's "Like a Prayer". When the other kids came into the desk, he pretended that he was the one singing!. Everyone laughed. I will always remember that. I love you so much! RIP

I never had the privilege of having Mr. Stio as a teacher back when I was a student in Piscataway in the mid-late 90s, yet he still knew my name and knew all about me. It was like he knew every student by name and knew their likes and dislikes. You never forget an educator like that. The fact that I can recall his fun, caring, and loving nature nearly 30 years later speaks volumes about him. He will be missed by every child who had the honor of knowing him. ❤️

I’d heard about the famous Mr. Stio for years. He was my husband’s fourth grade teacher and by far, his favorite. Fast forward many years later and I had the privilege of getting to know Mr. Stio as he subbed at my school. It suddenly all made sense to me. He was pure charisma and the embodiment of what an educator should be. He won over the hearts of every staff member and student alike.

Mr. Stio was my principal, my friend and most importantly he was my family. Mr. Stio loved to joke that he was my American Grandpa. That couldn't have been more true. He was there for every big moment. He flew down in December for my college graduation. I will miss him more than words could ever express.
