Obituary of Zenaida Garcia Rueda
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved great grandmother, Zenaida Garcia Rueda, who goes by Aida, departed the world on October 21, 2024 at the age of 92. A dedicated English and music teacher in the Philippines; she touched the lives of countless students and instilled a love of music in all who knew her.
Born on January 24, 1932 in Gapan Nueva Ecija, Philippines; Aida started teaching at the age of 14 and began her musical journey playing piano. For over 45 years, she taught at Gapan South Central School and inspired generations of students to explore their musical talents through singing and folk dancing. Her unwavering patience, loving demeanor, and kind spirit created a nurturing environment that encouraged creativity and self-expression. She married Nicasio Rueda and created a beautiful family with eight children: Amelita, Wilfredo, Grace, Joselito (who passed away), Ruena, Ramon, Roman, and Mylene. In addition to teaching, she was an entrepreneur at heart and made homemade dishes that she sold in the community to further provide for her family.
Beyond her teaching, Zenaida was a devoted great grandmother, sharing her love for music with her family. She often played the piano during family gatherings, was the star of sing-alongs and performances that brought joy and laughter to our home. Her legacy lives on in the hearts of her family, 19 grandchildren and 29 great grandchildren who span across the world, reaching Germany, Australia, United Kingdom, Philippines and the United States.
Zenaida is survived by her loving siblings, Rodolfo Garcia and Sylvia Alvarez, as well as a community of students and friends who will forever cherish her memory. She is preceded in death by her husband Nicasio, and son Joselito.
Rest in peace, dear Aida. Your melody will forever play on in our hearts.
