Obituary of Anne D. Mantz
Anne “Delores” Mantz, 93 years old passed away peacefully on Tuesday, November 26, 2024, at JFK Medical Center in Edison, surrounded by her devoted family. Born and raised in Newark, NJ, Delores found her home in South Plainfield in 1962, where her presence became a cornerstone of her community and family.
Delores dedicated many years to Bamberger’s Department Store in Plainfield (later Macy’s). However, it was in her role as the matriarch of her family that Delores truly shined. Some knew her as Anne, Some knew her as Delores, but most knew her as Nannie. Whether lending a hand to her son & daughter or offering her unwavering support to her grandchildren, She was the heartbeat of her family, shaping lives with her gentle guidance and unconditional love.
Her compassion extended beyond her family. A dedicated volunteer in the gift shop of the former Muhlenberg Hospital, Delores brought comfort and joy to countless visitors.
Predeceased by her beloved husband Joseph, her son-in-law Michael Jakubik, and her five brothers—Eugene, Bob, Eddie, Vincent, and Thomas—Delores leaves behind a legacy of love and resilience. She is survived by her daughter Nancy Jakubik, her son Joseph Mantz and his wife Susan, her cherished grandchildren—Jamie McNamee & Husband Trey, Michael Jakubik & wife Gabriella, Randy Jakubik, and Joseph Jakubik—and her great-grandchildren Athan, Ayla, Brynleigh, and Kade, who were the light of her life. She also leaves her brother, James Monahan.
Whether you knew her as Anne, Delores, or Nannie her legacy lives on in the hearts of those she shaped & inspired. She was not just a part of her family’s story; she was its foundation.
Family and friends are invited to attend the Memorial Mass on December 14, 2024 at 10 AM in the Church of the Sacred Heart, 149 South Plainfield Avenue, South Plainfield, NJ 07080.
